Individuals who are lacking the necessary prerequisite courses required of an ASHA accredited graduate program, should consider the SLHS Leveling Program.

Current UT Austin Students

UT Austin students may request permission to take leveling coursework, by completing the Internal SLHS Leveling Survey.

UT Students in their last semester who have applied to graduate, are not required to apply for readmission if student continues to take coursework immediately after graduation and there is no gap in enrollment.

The deadline for survey completion, to join SLHS Leveling Program in the Fall, is July 1st.

UT Austin Alumni

The application requires the following TWO steps to access leveling coursework:

  1. Apply for readmission to UT Austin. Select "Former undergraduate, different major or Non-Degree Seeking (NDS)". If approved, you will be readmitted to the last department in which you were a major and gain access to step two.
  2. Complete Internal SLHS Leveling Survey. *Please note, to complete this survey, student must be readmitted.

The deadline for readmittance and survey completion, to join SLHS Leveling Program in the Fall, is July 1st.

Degree Holder from Another Institution

To take prerequisite courses at UT Austin as a degree holder/non-degree seeker (NDS), you must submit a Transfer Admission Application.

Ensure that your “statement of interest” (i.e.,essay) addresses your academic background, interest in the field of SLHS, and your goals for professional development and graduate school.

The application deadline for Fall admittance is March 1. Decisions will be released mid-to-late June.

All admission decisions are final and cannot be appealed. Accepted students are required to attend an orientation session prior to the start of classes.

Please note, admission as an NDS or leveling student does not lead to automatic admission into our graduate programs. Graduate program admissions are a separate and highly competitive. To learn more about graduate admissions in SLHS, please visit ASHA EdFind
