Lab Members
Lab Director & Primary Investigator - Julia Campbell, Ph.D., Au.D., CCC-A, F-AAA
Julia Campbell received her Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) in 2009 from the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
In 2015, she received a combined triple Ph.D. in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, Behavioral Neuroscience, and Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. She is also the Graduate Program Director for the Au.D. program, and is affiliated with the Institute for Neuroscience.
Julia uses electrophysiology and source localization methods to better understand cortical network plasticity in typical and atypical sensory function. She has published research in PLoS ONE, Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, Journal of the American Academy of Audiology, and Clinical Neurophysiology, among others.

Lab Manager and Graduate Research Assistant – Jon Colambo
Jon Colambo is a first-year graduate student at The University of Texas pursuing a Doctorate of Audiology (AuD). In 2026, he received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin.
His research interests include: acoustics, hearing/balance disorders, auditory processing, and hearing conservation in musicians
In his free time, he loves to play guitar, spend time with his loved ones, play games on the PSP, and support live music.
Undergraduate Research Assistant – Kishan Patel
Kishan is in his fourth year at the University of Texas at Austin, pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Honors Biochemistry, a certificate in Evidence and Inquiry, and a minor in ASL.
Kishan is currently interested in finding associations between tinnitus and extended high-frequency loss using advanced statistical models. He is also interested in studying how noise pollution impacts the health and well-being of the elderly in urban environments.
In his free time, Kishan likes to compose music and songwrite, hang out with friends and family, and grow plants.
Assistant Lab Manager and Undergraduate Research Assistant - Shreya Nampoothiri
Shreya Nampoothiri is in her third year at The University of Texas pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with a specialization in Audiology and a minor in ASL.
Her research interests focuses on the intersection of neuro-audiology and neuroplasticity, specifically interested in the bilingual impact on the brain, investigating how the cognitive demands of managing multiple languages enhance neural flexibility and central sensory processing.
In her free time, she loves to stay active through dance and music, learn new languages, and cooking.
Undergraduate Research Assistant - Eowyn Fushille
Eowyn Fushille is in her fourth year at The University of Texas at Austin pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Biochemistry.
Eowyn is interested in understanding the neurological and biochemical mechanisms that underlie central processing disorders, especially involving factors such as hormonal changes and aging.
In her free time, Eowyn enjoys reading and playing cozy games. She also enjoys visiting coffee shops around Austin and hiking with her family.
Graduate Research Assistant - Elijah Ward
Elijah Ward is a first-year graduate student at The University of Texas pursuing a Doctorate of Audiology (AuD). In 2026, he received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin.
